Peter & Sons signs new deal to implement Yggdrasil’s Gigablox mechanic

Up-and-coming game development studio and YG Masters partner Peter & Sons has licensed Yggdrasil Gaming’s popular Gigablox mechanic to optimize future game production and “create thrilling new content.”

One of the Cherry Ab subsidiary’s three game engagement mechanics (GEM), the deal allows Peter & Sons to implement the framework into its games development process, with the first enhanced title to be realized prior to the year’s end.

Framework utilization:

Lucky Neko and Hades, released in June and October of 2020 respectively, are two of Yggdrasil’s proprietary games that feature the Gigablox mechanic, which offers intuitive win potential. In Lucky Neko, the framework enables dynamic reels to produce gigantic blocks up to 6×6 stacked, and Hades builds off that with Gigablox battles.

Happy with its decision to license the mechanical framework, Peter & Sons Business Development Manager Yann Bautista said the studio is “always looking for new ways to engage and surprise players and building on Yggdrasil’s proven slot mechanics sets a solid foundation for us to create thrilling new content.” He added that access to Yggdrasil’s GEM offering “adds significant business value for us as a YG Masters partner.”

Mechanical advancements:

In December 2020, Yggrasil extended its content partnership program to offer its studio partners access to all three of its popular mechanical advancements, including Splitz, MultiMax and Gigablox.  UK game developer Reflex Gaming is the most recent – behind Peter & Sons – to join established YG Masters partners, DreamTech Gaming, which became the program’s sixth studio partner in April 2019, and London-based game design and development house, Bang Bang Games, which joined last year, and have already signed up for the proposition.

The Splitz advance splits mystery symbols on the reels allowing “more ways, extra scatters, longer lines, or bigger clusters,” and was incorporated into Syncronite, Neon Rush and the futuristic title, Temple Stacks. Lastly, MultiMax debuted in Multifly, which enjoyed an extremely successful pre-launch in March last year and sees the accumulation of multipliers on the reels for cascading wins.

Additional frameworks will be packaged and commercialized this year by Yggdrasil for its YG Masters partners.

Thrilled with the interest the Swedish firm’s GEM offering has generated, according to Stuart McCarthy, Head of Partner Programs for Yggdrasil, “it is a testament to the popularity of our mechanics with players around the globe.”

McCarthy added in the press release that by incorporating Gigablox into their upcoming titles, Peter & Sons “will be able to take their games to the next level and we look forward to seeing the results.”

Latest slot launch:

The announcement is hot on the heels of the launch of Yggdrasil’s latest YG Masters title, Viking Runes. Designed by independent studio TrueLab, in collaboration with the content partnership program, the Nordic-themed grid slot uses a cluster pays system and features Lightning Wilds and three random modifiers.

Next up is the return of Yggdrasil’s Moai statues in the sequel to the hit, Easter Island, which was originally released in 2018. Fans can expect the second iteration of the beach-themed classic to drop on March 24!

Madden 25's Newest Battle Pass Is A Confusing Unforced Error

Madden NFL is touted as having new and exciting presentation elements with every new installment in the series. These elements, such as commentary, field-level camera work, and halftime shows, are inconsistent at best and tend to leave a lot to be desired, especially when you compare them to the same aspects of games like NBA 2K and MLB The Show. But the latest presentation gaffe in Madden 25 feels like a strangely unforced error.

In the most recent patch, the EA Orlando team introduced the Team Pass, a new battle pass-like cosmetic rewards tree that offers both free and paid unlockables that amount to player banner customization options. You can unlock things like profile pictures, backgrounds, and borders, just like you can in Call of Duty or many other games…
